The oil cooler absorbs the heat of the lubricating oil and exchanges heat with the ambient air or the radiator coolant. Usually, automatic transmissions require a dedicated oil cooler. Normally, when the vehicle is in motion, the oil is cooled by a separate heat exchanger. 2, water-cooled oil cooler Oil cooler is placed in the cooling water, using the temperature of the cooling water to control the temperature of the lubricating oil. When the temperature of the lubricating oil is high, it is cooled by the cooling water, and when the engine starts, the heat is absorbed from the cooling water to rapidly increase the temperature of the lubricating oil. The oil cooler is made of aluminum alloy shell, front cover, back cover and copper core tube. In order to enhance the cooling, the tube is equipped with heat sink. The cooling water flows outside the pipe, the lubricating oil flows inside the pipe, and the two exchange heat. There are also structures that cause oil to flow outside the tube and water to flow inside.




The working principle of the oil-cooled engine is mainly to use the oil to circulate inside the engine, in addition to lubrication and cleaning, but also to absorb the heat generated by the engine, and gradually release the heat. However, at high speed or a long time of high-speed operation, the heat absorbed by the oil will be very high, if the heat can not be quickly released, the lubrication performance of the oil will decline, resulting in engine parts wear and loss.


To solve this problem, an oil cooling system can be installed to improve the heat resistance of the oil, thereby maintaining the performance and endurance of the engine. However, choosing the right size of the oil cooler is critical because the oil is delivered to the engine through the pump pressure. If the oil cooler is installed, the load of the oil pump will increase with the increase of space, which usually leads to a decrease in the oil pressure value of the engine.


Excessive drop in oil pressure will lead to oil can not be delivered to the parts in time, affecting heat dissipation and lubrication efficiency, and may even lead to hot melt or burn the piston in serious cases. Automobile oil radiator is also known as oil cooler and oil heat exchanger, as the name suggests, its role is to heat the oil, prevent the oil temperature is too high to cause oil consumption to increase, but also to prevent oil oxidation deterioration and then affect the lubrication effect of the engine. In addition to cooling the oil, the heat exchanger can also heat the oil at low temperatures.


According to the working principle, the oil radiator can be divided into water-cooled and air-cooled two types. The water-cooled oil radiator is mostly installed above the oil filter and is cooled by the coolant flowing through the cooling system. The water-cooled oil radiator does not require a large cooling area and has a small volume. When the oil temperature is low during the start of the warm car, the oil temperature can be rapidly increased by absorbing heat from the cooling water. The air-cooled radiator uses the head-on wind of the car to dissipate the oil. This oil radiator has a large heat dissipation capacity and is mostly used in racing cars and supercharged engine cars with large heat load.

Therefore, under the condition of heat engine, the coolant flowing through the oil heat exchanger is responsible for absorbing the oil heat away, keeping the average oil temperature in the lubrication system not higher than the upper limit (generally 90 ° C).


Heating function: When the cold car starts, the oil temperature is low and the fluidity is poor, which will increase the operating resistance of the engine components, so it is necessary to increase the oil temperature as soon as possible. As the engine runs, the temperature rises and the coolant heats up. At this point, the coolant that is hotter than the oil will heat the oil at the oil heat exchanger.
